The Blade Runner Unicorn

Last week, I joked that we might see origami unicorns, a la Blade Runner, trend in 2019. That got me thinking… How do you make a Blade Runner unicorn?

It turns out, I wasn’t the first person to wonder, and after a brief google search, I can say, “I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe,” because I found an amazing set of instructions at Gaff’s Unicorn.

Time to make an army of unicorns!

The site is run by Blade Runner super-fan Kenneth Thompson, who reverse-engineered the origami pattern. On his webpage, Kenneth says, “As a Blade Runner fan, I searched all over the internet for a place to purchase Gaff’s Unicorn and couldn’t find one anywhere. So I decided if I really wanted one, I was going to have to make it myself.”

I’ve included the images from Kenneth’s website below, but I encourage you to visit his site! Clicking on any of the images will bring you to a video tutorial of Kenneth folding those steps.

Happy crafting!
